High Waves on Lake Michigan Cause Flooding Concerns Near Shorelines

It is bitter cold all across the midwest today. Most of us woke up to temperatures dipping down below zero. As I write this, it's currently -2 degrees! These arctic winds are sending chills through our city, but that's not all. Intense waves are crashing against the shoreline of Lake Michigan, and fears of more erosion are being realized.

Specifically in northwest Indiana, the massive swells are set to reach as high as 18 feet. The waves are causing major erosion, destroying beaches and making beachfront homeowners extremely nervous. With 40 mph wind gusts, and the lake already clocking it at 3 feet above average, it seems like a perfect storm.
