Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Mom Over 2 Overdue Library Books

This Michigan mom of five has never been in trouble with the law, but there's a warrant out for her arrest... Over a couple of overdue library books!

Melissa Sanders, who works as a security guard, learned she was a wanted woman when she applied for a promotion at work. As standard procedure her boss ran a routine background check as part of her application for the promotion. She thought he was kidding when he told her there was a warrant out for her arrest. She was suspended from work over the warrant.

Melissa is a mom to five kids, and the books were checked out for her kids to use. Here's the real kicker... She DID return them! But she returned them late and there was a late fee. She never received a notice about the fee, and therefore didn't pay it. Now Sanders is charged with failure to return rental property, which carries a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
