It was a very exciting Mother's Day at the Lincoln Park Zoo! One of the zoos gorillas gave birth to a baby! The critically-endangered newborn western lowland gorilla has yet to be named, but he has received plenty of love from his mother Rollie. This is the second baby for Rollie; she gave birth to Nayembi back in 2012. The new baby boy is now the eighth western lowland gorilla at Lincoln Park Zoo.
While the gorillas acclimate to the newest member of their family, the Regenstein Center for African Apes will remain closed intermittently. The center will return to its regular hours (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) this Saturday. Looks like it might be a good day to visit the zoo and get a glimpse of the adorable infant in person!
