10-Year-Old Miraculously Pried Open Gator's Mouth During Attack in Orlando

This story is so heartbreaking, but thankfully it has a happy ending!

Over the weekend, a 10-year-old in Orlando, Florida was swimming in Lake Mary Jane.

She did everything right to stay safe-- she was in a designated safe-swimming area, she was just a few feet from shore, and stayed in shallow water.

Unfortunately, that wasn't enough. An 8-foot-long alligator attacked the girl, clamping its mouth shut on her leg!

Somehow, this incredibly brave and strong girl managed to pry open the gator's mouth and make it safely to shore without being followed!

The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, and the gator was removed from the lake.
