RECALL ALERT: Frito-Lay Issues Recall of Chips Over Salmonella Concerns

The Frito-Lay company is recalling some chips over potential salmonella contamination.

This Recall Applies To:

  • Miss Vickie’s jalapeño flavored chips
  • Lay’s Kettle Cooked jalapeño flavored chips
  • Packages with a “guaranteed fresh” date of July 4 or earlier.
  • Multipacks that contains the jalapeño flavor with a guaranteed fresh date of June 20.

Other flavors are unaffected by the recall.

According to the FDA, no illness related to this issue has been confirmed. "This action is the direct result of a supplier’s recent recall of a seasoning blend which includes jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella" Frito-Lay says. "The company has decided to recall these products out of an abundance of caution."

As a reminder, salmonella can be extremely dangerous to the elderly, children, and health-compromised individuals. In healthy adults it can cause fever, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
