While most people look forward to the holiday season each year, the holidays are definitely going to be different this year, although a new survey reveals that most people plan to make the best of it.
A new Coinstar poll finds:
- 56% of people say COVID will influence how they celebrate the holidays this year.
- 31% admit they would skip the holidays this year if they could.
- 40% don’t plan to travel to relatives or attend or host a holiday party.
- 32% do plan to make the best of the holiday season.
When it comes to giving gifts:
- 50% plan to give fewer gifts this season
- 32% say it’s due to job loss or decreased work.
- 24% are simply concerned about the economy.
- When it comes to gifts, stocking stuffers may look a little different this year.
- 40% plan to give hand sanitizer.
- 38% plan to give facemasks.
- 23% will give disinfectant wipes.
On a positive note, most folks don’t plan to give up on the holidays altogether.
- 21% plan to attend a virtual church service.
- 19% are planning a virtual gift exchange.
- 12% say they’ll compete in a Zoom-attend tacky holiday sweater contest.
- Other ways to enjoy the holiday include:
- Driving around neighborhoods to enjoy holiday decorations.
- Making holiday decorations.
- Leaving a snack basket for delivery personnel.
- Having a bake-off with people in their household.
