Relationships can go wrong for a variety of reasons, but a new survey reveals some of the biggest reasons folks have decided to walk away from a partner, and in many cases, it's over the little things.
The poll by Delta Dental finds that 64% of people say poor hygiene is one of the biggest causes to quit a relationship, followed by flirting with others (62%). Other reasons to walk away include:
- Looks through my phone without permission (46%)
- Gets jealous (43%)
- Uses my toothbrush without permission (35%)
- Doesn’t pick up after himself or herself (33%)
- Doesn’t brush twice a day (25%)
- Doesn’t offer to pay for dates (21%)
- Is late (19%)
- Uses my toothpaste without permission (8%)
The survey, which remember is from a dental company, also looked at the importance of a smile on relationships, with 47% of Americans saying a person’s smile is their sexiest feature, with another 56% of adults saying smiles are more of a turn on than bank accounts. What's more 70% of folks say smiles can make or break a first impression, while 73% say poor oral hygiene is a major turnoff, and 62% of people admit they wouldn’t kiss someone with bad oral hygiene.
