More than 1 million Massachusetts residents are expected to hit the road for the holiday, according to AAA.
The AAA reports that a record 46.9-million Americans will travel 50 miles or more over the July 4th holiday
• That number is 5% more than last year, and the highest amount in the 18 years AAA has been tracking holiday travelers
• 39.7 million people will be traveling by car, up 5.1% from last year, with 3.8 million people flying to their destination, up 7.9% from last year
While July 4th falls in the middle of the week this year, which means most people won’t be getting a long holiday weekend, that isn’t stopping folks from traveling for the Independence Day holiday.
