MAN SAVES DOG DURING HURRICANE, THEN ADOPTS HER
Stories of courage and charity continue to come from areas affected by the hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida.
This latest one involves a dog who was saved – and then adopted – by a sheriff in the line of duty.
The dog was discovered by Sheriff Troy Nehls and a news crew in Fort Bend County, Texas. Everyone on the scene was alarmed because water was rising and the poor dog was chained to the porch, unable to swim away. Only her head was visible because the water was so high.
Troy and one of the journalists dove under the water, untied the dog's leash and hauled her to safety in a rescue boat.
She was taken to the Humane Society, where she was examined and found to be healthy.
Nehls stepped up to adopt the dog and provide a loving home for her, and he and his family named her Archer after the journalist who helped save her. (Good News Network)
