SOUTHWEST DONATES PLANE TO RESCUE ANIMALS DISPLACED BY HURRICANE
Many victims of Hurricane Harvey sadly lost their homes, including many animals that have been displaced.
Realizing that animal shelters are at capacity, Southwest Airlines stepped up and donated the use of a plane to help move dozens of animals across the country.
After operating several relief flights for customers and employees, Southwest donated a flight to transport about 60 cats and dogs from Houston to San Diego.
Thanks to the airlift effort, there is more room at the shelters in the Houston area to temporarily accept family pets that need special care until the families can put their lives back together.
The 60 cats and dogs that made the cross-country trip are all doing well and receiving lots of love from volunteers helping them recover from their ordeal. (Today)
