Why Dating Younger Men Works For A Lot Of Women

  • These days we’re seeing more older woman/younger male couplings and it turns out, there are a lot of reasons why dating a younger man seems to be better for a gal
  • Women say younger men have less baggage, while experts say it works become some older men are threatened by strong independent women
  • Younger men also like that older women know what they want and don’t play games

While it’s pretty common to see older men dating much younger women, when it’s the other way around - people used to frown upon it. But it seems these days we’re seeing more older woman/younger male couplings and it turns out, there are a lot of reasons why dating a younger man seems to be better for a gal.

“Younger guys tend to be more active, have less baggage,” 42-year-old New Yorker Amber Soletti, who is engaged to a 34-year-old, says. “You’re less likely to date a younger guy who’s been divorced, has children or has sexual performance issues.”

And experts agree that the such pairings do seem to make sense, especially since older men may feel threatened by a strong independent woman. “Older successful men are used to being in control of a woman, and that doesn’t sit well with modern women,” Susan Winter, co-author of the book “Older Women, Younger Men: New Options for Love and Romance,” says. “Younger men have grown up with working women and have worked for female bosses, so they’re more likely to treat women equally.”

  • From the male side, some younger guys like that older women know what they want and are upfront about it. Alan Angal, a 36-year-old who’s marrying his 45-year-old fiancée Jennifer Signer this summer, notes, “With some women I dated, they wanted to play games, but Jennifer always communicated that she wanted something real. He adds, “I always knew where I stood with her.”
