  • 54% of people would end think about ending a romance if a pet didn’t like their partner

It’s no secret that most dog owners simply love their pets but just how much they love them may be a bit surprising.

In case you missed it, a new survey by Rover uncovers the truly strong devotion most pet owners have for their four-legged friends. In fact, 94% of people consider their dogs part of the family, with 75% of those folks willing to include their pooches in everything from vacations, to marriage proposals, to holiday cards.

For this reason, we shouldn’t be at all surprised that people just love taking photos of their pooches. A whopping 65% of people say they take more pics of their pets than friends and significant others, with 29% sharing those dog photos on social media more than they do shots of their human friends and family.

And pets can have a real effect on a person’s relationship. The survey finds that 54% of people would think about ending a romance if a pet didn’t like their partner. And in some cases people are closer to their dogs than they are to their mates, with 47% of people saying it’s harder to leave their pet for a week than their significant other, and 56% admitting that when they come home they say hello to their dog first before family, partners, or friends.
