Wedding Dance Floors Make A Comeback In Mass. In Phase 4 Of Reopening Plan

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the state prepared to reopen more businesses this week, good news is expected later this month for lots of very patient brides and grooms.

Massachusetts will move into Step 3 Phase 2 of the reopening plan on Monday March 1st. If COVID-19 numbers keep trending downwards, Phase 4 of the state's reopening plan will begin on March 22nd, which includes bringing back dance floors at weddings.

According to former Jam'n 94.5FM radio personality Baltazar Ibanez, 2020 was not a great year to be a wedding DJ.

"It's been a year of just postponing, postponing, postponing," he said. "No money coming in. And we've been suffering through that."

When the state enters Phase 4 of the COVID-19 reopening plan, dance floors will be allowed for indoor weddings of up to 100 guests and outdoor weddings of up to 150 guests.

Ibanez, who now runs Baltazar Entertainment, said he doesn't yet know if there will be restrictions on those dance floors, like masks and social distancing.

But at the end of the day, some dancing is better than none at all.

"Put your dancing shoes on," Ibanez said. "We're ready to go."
