WATERTOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Watertown Public Works crews helped a mother duck reunite with her ducklings.

According to the city’s animal control, two concerned residents called their office about a distressed mother duck earlier this week. The only problem, their office was already out for the day.

That's when Chief Environmental Health Officer Lauren Olsen and members of the Department of Public Works stepped in to help and found 13 duck babies had fallen into a storm drain.

After some struggle to lift the storm grate, the workers were able to rescue the ducklings and reunite them with their mother.
