MASHPEE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Three people are in the hospital following a violent attack in Mashpee early Thursday morning.

The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. at the Sea Oaks condominium complex on Falmouth Road when police say a "combative male" charged at the victims.

A 70-year-old woman was stabbed and was taken by med-flight to a hospital in Providence, R.I. with what appear to be life-threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old man was also taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries from what police believe to be an assault and battery.

The suspect was arrested after a "violent struggle" with authorities and was taken Falmouth Hospital. He has since been released from the hospital, but remains in police custody.

The incident remains under investigation.
