BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Logan Airport has been spared major disruptions, but Transportation Security Administration officers are still feeling the impact from the partial government shutdown.

TSA officers have officially missed their first full paycheck since the current shutdown began.

Mike Gayzagian, president of the union that represents New England TSA officers, says one to two officers have been leaving the agency every day since the shutdown began. He expects the missed paycheck will only accelerate resignations.

Lines at Logan have not been longer than usual, but a busier travel season is quickly approaching, which has some travelers concerned.

"It is a concern because we travel pretty frequently, and if this continues and gets worse, it makes it really difficult," one person said.

Those traveling ahead of St. Patrick's Day celebrations are showing their appreciation for officers still coming in to work.

"Thank you so much for still showing up. It's awesome to say that even in a job that doesn't pay very well, the loyalty is still there," another person said.

The union president says they will reopen food pantries to support officers as they did with the previous shutdown in the fall.

"This is one of the more important jobs up there, and to not pay just it's not right," another person said.
