Tens Of Thousands Vote Early In Massachusetts Over The Weekend

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — More than 160,000 voters across Massachusetts cast early ballots over the weekend, either in-person of through the mail.

Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin's office said more than 2.2 million registered voters in the state have applied to Vote by Mail or vote early in-person so far, representing almost half the state's voting population.

Out of those 2.2 million voters, more than 1.6 million had returned their ballots by Sunday 4 p.m., with about two-thirds being returned by mail.

More than one-third of all registered voters in Massachusetts have already voted. The number of ballots cast right now is equal to 47.4 percent of all ballots cast in the 2016 election.

Voters in Massachusetts have until Friday October 30th to vote early, or they can vote in-person on Election Day, Tuesday November 3rd. Click here to find your local early voting location.
