BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former New England Patriot Tedy Bruschi has suffered a stroke—but, his family said, he's recovering well.

Bruschi reportedly had the stroke Thursday afternoon and was taken to a hospital.

This is his second stroke; his first was back in 2005 during his playing career.

Bruschi is now home resting and appreciates "all the kind words and well wishes from his fans, friends and community," Tedy's Team Foundation said later Friday.

Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft issued a statement Friday after learning of Bruschi's stroke.

"On behalf of the entire Patriots organization, we extend our love, thoughts and prayers to Tedy and the Bruschi family while we wish him godspeed in a complete recovery," Kraft's statement read.

Bruschi retired following the 2008 season and is currently an analyst for ESPN.
