Friday Nights At The Stoughton Diner Bring A Taste Of Africa

STOUGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — In Stoughton, there’s a restaurant that’s a classic diner throughout the week that becomes an African eatery on a Friday night.

The Stoughton Diner is owned by Joy Harding-Dahn, who came to the United States as a teenager from Africa. She studied to become a teacher in college, and even owned her own daycare. In 2018, Harding-Dahn took the plunge into the food industry, and opened the diner.

On Friday nights, the diner changes in menu and theme.

“We want it to be an experience with the music, with the sound, with the ambiance, and of course, the food,” Harding-Dahn said.

The African cuisine spans over the countries such as Ghana, Liberia, and Nigeria. Items such as palm butter and potato greens are offered.

“You are under African skies, where you eat authentic food,” Harding-Dahn said. “We have live music, drumming or singing something native to Africa. The décor, everything, just takes you into another continent.”
