WRENTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The State Police trooper accused of drunkenly committing a lewd act at a concert at Gillette Stadium over the summer has had his case dropped.

According to WBZ-TV, a judge said the charges against Trooper Andrew Patterson, 32 of Lynn, were dropped after nobody was found willing to testify against him.

A police report detailed allegations that Patterson was "extremely intoxicated" at a June 21 Luke Bryan concert and masturbated next to a woman, eventually getting into a fight with that woman's boyfriend.

Patterson denied the allegations.

"I fought for our country overseas, I fought for our Commonwealth on these streets," Patterson told reporters outside court. "I've done nothing to deserve the type of slander and public shaming that I've experienced through the media and through the agenda that's being pushed forward through no individual requirement of me."

The Massachusetts State Police suspended Patterson without pay following the incident. Whether or not he would return to the department was not yet known.

On Friday morning, WBZ-TV reported, the judge also cited Patterson's military service and the fact that he did not have a criminal record in letting him off—but did say Patterson must continue treatment for alcohol addiction.
