LINCOLN, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) had a reason to give people a friendly reminder to start preparing their cars for the winter.

The NHDOT Lincoln Patrol Shed woke up to snow falling on the Kancamagus Highway in Lincoln this morning.

Some of the ways drivers can start prepping for winter weather include checking tire pressure, fluids and windshield wipers. NHDOT also said people should restock their emergency supply kits.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) also offers many safe winter driving tips and other information regarding snow plows, shoveling and road treatments.

“Every winter brings special challenges to both drivers and to MassDOT,” they wrote on their website. “Whether it be snow or ice, as a driver you need to be prepared.”

The organization highly encourages people to avoid driving during winter storms unless it is absolutely necessary.
