Radiohead have released 18 hours of music from the OK Computer era after a hacker held the files ransom.
"We got hacked last week," the band posted on Facebook. "Someone stole Thom’s [Yorke] minidisk archive from around the time of OK Computer, and reportedly demanded $150,000 on threat of releasing it."
Instead of submitting to demands, the band released all 18 hours of music on Bandcamp.
Yorke and Radiohead are no strangers to unusual album releases. The alt-rock icons shocked the music industry with the 2007 pay-what-you-want digital download of In Rainbows, but this dump of old tracks is noteworthy because the music was never intended to be heard by the public.
You can stream the clips for free, or download the album for 18 euros. Proceeds will go towards the non-violent protest group Extinction Rebellion.
