BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new poll shows that more than half of small businesses in Massachusetts are still on a long road to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

MassINC Polling Group conducted a survey of 3,243 small business owners (those with fewer than 500 employees in their organization) in the state and found that 53% of them said their organization is making less money now than it did before the pandemic.

Of those owners, 23% said their revenue was down 1%-24%, 19% said they were down 25%-49%, and 11% said they were down 50% or more.

On the other hand, 26% of small businesses owners polled said they had higher revenue streams now than before the pandemic

18% said they were making about the same amount of money as they did before COVID-19.

The poll also found that most companies are keeping up with their debts. Only 18% of those surveyed had three months or more of past due payments.
