Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Off-Duty Firefighter In Weymouth

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV in Weymouth on Monday night. The man driving the SUV is a Hull firefighter - he was off-duty at the time of the accident.

The victim has been identified as 71-year-old William D. Fredette of Brockton. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Fredette’s family and friends," Weymouth Police wrote. "The facts and circumstances of this crash remain under investigation."

So far no charges have been filed against the firefighter, and witnesses say he immediately stepped in to try and help the victim.
