BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —While the Southie Parade might have concluded, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations continue Tuesday throughout the Commonwealth.

South Street Diner, which was decked out in green and gold, served up a special full-Irish breakfast.

“A true Irish breakfast is black sauce, blood sausage, [and] you got to get the fried eggs,” Joseph O’Connor, who is a second-generation Irish, told WBZ NewsRadio.

He added that the tea to pair with the meal is also important.

“You got to get the Barry's Tea,” he continued. “You can’t be [drinking] Lipton.”

Greater Boston is known to have one of the highest concentrations of Irish descendent in American. Specifically in Scituate as the town reported nearly a third of its population as Irish descent, according to data from the 2024 U.S. Census.

“It’s kind of funny though, all my Irish cousins want to come here for St. Patrick’s Day,” O’Connor said.
