BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new UNIQLO location opened earlier this month in Downtown Crossing, and to celebrate, multiple local artists' work is being highlighted for a limited time.
Some of the artists in question are Nick Shea, Matthew Zaremba, and Amelia Emmet, all of which created Boston-themed clothing designs that are being sold exclusively at this UNIQLO location.
Some of these deigns include a Boston Cream donut, Boston locations and reinterpretations of art pieces found in the MFA, such as Nick Shea's light-hearted take on "Watson and the Shark."
“The original painting, it’s dark and scary and someone’s about to get eaten alive by a shark, so I made it fun, where they’re playing with the shark. They’re friends in the Boston Harbor,” he said.
Shea was surprised at how up front and center his work is being displayed.
“I thought we were just going to be in the corner tucked away in the back, but to see that it was on display like we were these rock stars or something like that,” he said.

Amelia Emmet shared Shea's sentiment, being incredible proud and honored to represent her city and state.
“It was really a surreal experience, going in there and seeing everything,” Emmet said. “It was really huge to be chosen as one of the people who Uniqlo wanted to have capture the state and Boston.”
Matthew Zaremba explained how this accomplishment lets him show his kids that creativity can take you places and how your work can impact so many people all over.
“There are so many tropes about being creative, like what can you do with that in your life. Both professionally and personally, being able to do so much creative work is fulfilling,” Zaremba said. “You don’t know who might be visiting Boston, and that’s their keepsake of Boston.”
