'I Got My Life Back!' Overdose Survivor Thanks Natick Police For Saving Her

NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Natick Police received a powerful thank-you note from a woman who nearly died from a drug overdose last summer.

The woman showed up at Natick Police Headquarters recently with some baked goods and a handwritten letter, thanking the officers for saving her life.

Police administered Narcan and CPR last August, after the woman overdosed on opioids. Now, she wrote in her letter, she's celebrated five months of sobriety.

"It was a major wake up call," the woman wrote in the letter. "I went to detox the next day and haven't used since. Due to you guys saving my life through CPR and narcan I got my life back!"

She went on to list exactly what it means to have her life back: keeping a steady job, having good mental health, living with her family again, regaining custody of her daughter, and being able to truly say she's happy and loves herself and who she is.

Lt. Cara Rossi told WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe that officers were moved by the letter, because in most cases, they don't see the outcome of their efforts.

"We don't really get to see these positive stories, for them to know that what they do and how they treat people really makes a difference," Lt. Rossi said.
