Mashpee Wampanoag Police Investigate Cemetery Destruction

MASHPEE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Mashpee Wampanoag Police Department is investigating the possible destruction of property at a Tribal Cemetery.

According to MWPD, security staff at the Sacred Meeting House Tribal Cemetery reported the damage to the memorial bench early Tuesday.

Tribal Police said they responded to the cemetery, "immediately notified the father of the deceased," and met with him at the damaged memorial bench to report and gather information.

MWPD said anyone with information on the destruction of property is asked to contact the Tribal Police Department’s non-emergency number at 774-361-6045.
