Local TikTok Influencer Responds To App Ban

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — This weekend, app stores in the U.S. will be prohibited from distributing or updating the TikTok app. The Trump Administration believes the Chinese-owned video sharing platform is a threat to national security.

Local social media influencer B Mo The Prince is a pretty popular guy on the internet. His nostalgic brand of comedy has earned him millions of likes and followers, but he says all of that could now disappear.

"I love the people who are like, 'haha you worked so hard for this, how do you feel?' I'm like, the same as if you just built a house and then it fell over," he said. "Why are you making fun of me?!"

The U.S. Department of Commerce said it is concerned the TikTok app could be used for surveillance by the Chinese government. B-Mo, who lives in Stoughton, told WBZ NewsRadio he isn't too worried about it.

"Doesn't every app have some of my data to some degree?" he said. "I mean, if I say 'fried chicken' I'm going to get a KFC ad in about 15 minutes."

The U.S. government says TikTok will be gone from all app stores this Sunday. With time running out, B Mo says his biggest priority right now is moving his followers over to Instagram.
