Haverhill Man Held Without Bail In Alleged Assault

HAVERHILL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A Haverhill man is being held without bail after being accused of brutally attacking a mother and daughter as they walked their dogs.

Prosecutors in court said Jake Kavanaugh allegedly drove into the mother with his car, then hit her with the car again, and then jumped out and started the woman with a box cutter, WBZ-TV reported.

Prosecutors say the alleged attack happened around 5:00 PM Wednesday.

The mother was flown to a Boston hospital where she was in critical but stable condition at the time of publication. WBZ-TV reported the woman had stab wounds to her neck and eyes. The daughter was treated at a local hospital and released.

Kavanaugh pleaded not guilty to numerous charges in court Thursday, including assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
