BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some breakfast enthusiasts flocked to IHOP in Brighton bright and early Tuesday morning for free flapjacks on National Pancake Day.

IHOP was offering free short-stack pancakes from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for diners in celebration of the foodie holiday.

“I ordered the Mexican Tres Leches Pancakes,” one early-bird customer at the restaurant told WBZ NewsRadio.

Some customers also shared their secrets on the perfect way to devour the hotcakes

“I want butter on each pancake so [if] it’s stacked, you put a tablespoon of butter and repeat the process and then syrup,” another customer said. “[It] makes the perfect form.”

Others agreeing with that strategy: the more butter, the better.

“The butter makes it more soft,” someone else said. “It brings out the flavor.”
