BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Excitement is at an all-time high for the 115th Red Sox home opener at Fenway Park with new concession items and giveaways.
The culinary masterminds at Fenway gave WBZ NewsRadio a taste of the headline dish of the season: the Lobster Poutine.
“This is about as crazy as we get,” executive chef Ron Abell told WBZ NewsRadio. The dish is served with lobsters, clam chowder, smoked bacon, scallions, all piled on top of crispy fries.
“I know it sounds crazy, but we’ve got great reviews on it, so we’re going with it,” Abell added.
It wouldn’t be a baseball game without hot dogs, and four new loaded Fenway Franks make their debuts as well, including the Boston Dog, Pitmaster Dog, Pizza Dog and Reuben Dog.
The Green Monster fries are also back by popular demand. Abell said his team created more new items this year than ever before but “that is the only one we’re repeating.”
Travis Pollio, the senior director of ticket strategy and promotions, said there are lots of new giveaways and events in stored this season, starting off with the first-ever Roman Anthony bobble head on April 6.
“You’ve got tickets for that game, get here early,” he said, adding that they expect fans to line up to get the exclusive merchandise.
