BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Charles River Esplanade is ranked among the best riverwalks in the country, according to USA Today.
Ranked at No. 5, some residents said the Esplanade provides an escape from Boston’s city life.
“If it’s a long workday and just taking a stroll along here, it’s pretty unique,” one Bostonian told WBZ NewsRadio.
The public park spans 64 acres next to Storrow Drive with a series of running trails and playgrounds along the water. It also draws in major community events, including the Head of The Charles Regatta that takes place every October.
“You just can’t beat the views,” another local resident said. “The city in the background with the wildlife and the swans.”
Some visitors from the U.K. added the cherry blossom trees made the place even more relaxing.
“I’ve been to Japan, but these are very good,” they said.
The San Antonio River Walk in San Antonio, Texas was ranked No. 1.
