BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sullivan's Castle Island announced that it will be opening for the 2026 season this weekend, while also celebrating its 75th anniversary.

To commemorate, the Sullivan Castle Island Facebook account shared photos of the spot's early years and stories of how visitors were impacted by the island throughout January and February.

"Opening Day this season will officially mark 75 years of Sullivan’s Castle Island, a tradition that began in South Boston in 1951. For generations, it’s been burgers on the grill, hot dogs wrapped in paper, crinkle fries shared with family, lobster rolls by the water — and memories that last far beyond the summer," a post on the Castle Island Facebook said.

The island will open for business on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
