Former Billerica Police Dog Up For Adoption From MSPCA

METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A former police dog is up for adoption from the MSPCA's animal care and adoption center at Nevins Farm.

Blue, a two-and-a-half-year-old bloodhound, was a K9 officer with the Billerica Police Department until cancer sidelined his law enforcement career.

To keep the cancer from spreading, his leg was amputated.

"He is a big goober," shelter director Megan O'Leary told WBZ NewsRadio's Carl Stevens. "He is happy, he is friendly. He's just an all-around, very, very nice personality, very nice dog."

O'Leary said he definitely needs to learn some leash manners and possibly some more house training, but added that his previous owners did a great job socializing him.

Anyone interested in adopting Blue should stop by the Nevins Farm facility in Methuen to fill out an application from 12-4 p.m. Saturday. After that, they won't be taking any more applications.
