BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With April 15 right around the corner, some are still looking for an opportunity to file their tax returns. A social service organization in Boston has offered a helping hand.

Action for Boston Community Development has partnered with the IRS, along with other coalitions across Massachusetts, to offer free tax preparation services for residents who earned $69,000 or less in 2025.

ABCD President and CEO Sharon Scott-Chandler said the program comes at a great time.

“It’s such an important program and service, especially now. The cost of everything is so high,” said Scott-Chandler. “Food, energy, childcare, so even hundreds of dollars and sometimes thousands of dollars back into people's pockets, it’s helping them survive.”

The free service is available at all 12 ABCD locations, but appointments must be made.

“People should just really call, even if they don’t think that they’re eligible, just call and find out, and we’ll help them walk through the process,” said Scott-Chandler. “Everything is for free, tax filers don’t have to go pay 200, 300, sometimes up to 500 dollars to get a return.”
