A Waltham Woman Connects To Her 30 Siblings Through Same Sperm Donor

WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Could you imagine having 30 siblings? Well, that's how many half-brothers and half-sisters Emily Brownholtz has.

Brownholtz grew up with with a somewhat small family — two moms and a brother. But, thanks to the power of the internet, she has now connected with more siblings than she ever knew existed.

When she turned 18, she decided to look into the sperm donor her parents chose.

"I'm sitting in my college dorm room being like, 'Oh my god, I'm sitting on the phone with like six people that I've never met before and they're all related to me. Woah,'" Brownholtz said.

Thanks to the popularity of ancestry and DNA tests, the number of siblings just keeps growing.

Over the years, the siblings have flown across the country to meet up and make up for lost time. Occasionally, that includes the sperm donor himself. Brownholtz said she has a cousin or uncle-like relationship with him.

Correction: A previous of this article said Brownholtz found her siblings after taking a DNA test. She actually found them through the internet while looking into her sperm donor.
