A Mother Gorilla At Franklin Park Zoo Forms Bond With Baby Boy

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio)— A viral video has circulated the internet of a gorilla at the Franklin Park Zoo forming kinship with a newborn baby.

Emmelina Austin, from Jefferson Maine, and her five-week-old son visited the zoo's gorilla exhibit earlier this month.

Michael Austin uploaded a video to YouTube of Emmelina and her son sharing a special moment with the primate.

He stated that through the glass, Kiki the gorilla "shared a connection with my wife and our baby boy Canyon.”

Kiki, a 39-year-old western lowland gorilla, gave birth to a baby last October.

In the video, Kiki sits with her new baby, Pablo, and gently puts her hands up against the glass near the sleeping child.

"It was one of the most amazing experiences to see her trying to hold Canyons hand, lick him through the glass, and she just kept on pointing to us and then down at him, almost as if she was telling us 'that’s your baby'," Austin wrote on YouTube. "She was talking to us with her hands."
