Martina McBride remembered late legend Loretta Lynn on her birthday on Tuesday (April 14). Lynn would have turned 94.

McBride shared two photos with Lynn, plus a clip of a star-studded performance in the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” artist’s honor. McBride took part in the tribute with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and The Judds. It was part of the ACM Presents: Girls' Night Out: Superstar Women of Country concert on April 4, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Happy Birthday to The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” McBride wrote in her caption on Instagram. “I was so honored to know her. She was feisty, funny, fierce, and a true trailblazer for all of us women in country music. I miss hearing her say 'I love you Martina.' I was also honored to share the stage with these women,” she added, tagging each artist in the caption. “Happy Birthday Loretta.”

Lynn’s family confirmed in a statement on October 4, 2022, “our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning…in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills, [Tennessee].” She was 90. Lynn was born on April 14, 1932 in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Some of her most unforgettable songs include “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Fist City,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man),” “The Pill,” “I’m a Honky Tonk Girl” and other songs throughout her unparalleled, decades-spanning career. Many artists in the country music community — including Carly Pearce, LeAnn Rimes, Old Dominion, George Strait, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain and others — remembered the legendary artist in moving tributes after her loss.
