Social media commenters have been buzzing with guesses since Morgan Wallen confirmed his highly-anticipated studio album will include his first-ever duet with a female artist.
Now, many of them seem convinced itâs a pop star who appeared to share a cryptic clue on her Instagram story on Tuesday (April 15).
Wallen confirmed the duet in a rare response to a post on X, formerly Twitter, last week. Someone asked the country star: â[Morgan Wallen], please please PLEASE confirm âWhat I Wantâ is a duet. You havenât yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case.â Wallen simply replied: âIndeed sir.â
Since then, Wallen has kept fans guessing rather than revealing the identity of his mystery duet partner. Some commenters have named Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley and Megan Moroney, among many others. TikTokers particularly wondered whether a Wallen-Moroney collab was on the way when Moroney referenced Wallenâs viral phrase, âget me to Godâs country,â which he said after abruptly leaving Saturday Night Live. Wallen said on April 10, âI havenât seen one person guess the female collab on this album correctly yet.â
Now, fans think itâs a pop artist because of a photo she shared on her Instagram story on Tuesday. Itâs a close-up image of an orange jersey â presumably University of Tennessee â with the initials âMWâ near the neckline and âT8â printed on the front of the jersey.
Did Wallen team up with Tate McRae?
Neither artist confirmed or denied the rumor as of publication time.
McRaeâs teaser arrived the same day Wallen confirmed he has another collaboration with Post Malone on the way. The âI Had Some Helpâ duo will join forces again on âI Ainât Cominâ Back,â which is slated to release on Friday (April 18). Itâll be the latest song to release from Wallenâs 37-track studio record, Iâm The Problem, following the title track, âJust In Case,â âIâm A Little Crazy,â âLove Somebody,â âSmileâ and âLies Lies Lies.â Iâm The Problem arrives on May 16.
