Russell Dickerson Radiates 'Good Vibes,' Ignites Surge Of Energy With Crowd

Russell Dickerson radiates “good vibes” and a message of living life to the fullest any time he takes the stage to perform a set packed with high-energy anthems unleashed throughout his career. The “God Gave Me A Girl” star is slated to kick off his headlining “Big Wheels & Back Roads Tour” this month, following many electrifying shows throughout the summer.

Dickerson is well-known for singles like “Love You Like I Used To,” “Blue Tacoma,” “Home Sweet,” “Every Little Thing,” “She Likes It” featuring Jake Scott, “Yours” and many more. His latest full-length album, a self titled project featuring 15 tracks, made its debut in November. He followed it with a 5-track, beach-worthy EP, Three Months Two Streets Down, over the summer. One of the tracks, “Beauty and the Beach,” re-released as a genre-blending collaboration with Flo Rida.

“I just feel like that’s my personality. I don’t take things too seriously,” Dickerson recently said in an interview with iHeartCountry. He added that, “I just always try to stay positive and find the best in life, the best in people, the best in any day scenario. …I just wanted to continue the RD party vibe of not taking life too seriously. There’s already enough negativity in this world…It’s like, ‘hey, it’s all good. It’s all gonna be OK.’”

Dickerson spoke with iHeartCountry ahead of one of his latest live performances, taking the stage at the “Smirnoff ICE Relaunch Tour” in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Thursday night show (August 31) also featured North Carolina native Priscilla Block, benefiting Women In Music, a nonprofit organization aiming to support and advance women in the music industry. Dickerson spoke about the connection with the crowd, joining forces with the Welcome To The Block Party star and supporting female artists.

“It’s always fun to play new songs and to hear the crowd connect with, like ‘Ride the Wave’ has gone crazy,” Dickerson said of one of the tracks on his summer EP. He continued later: “I’ve been watching (Block) since the beginning and just to see her making her name in music, it’s so awesome. I’ve always had huge love and support – me and Carly Pearce did a co-headlining tour back in the day, and I just love to see, it’s like all my little sisters, you know? My little sisters are just crushing it. They’re doing great. To have Priscilla, again, have her on this show, I’m a fan. I love what she does, she’s sassy, she’s just getting after it and I just couldn’t be more proud of her.”

Dickerson is weeks away from becoming a father of two. He and his wife, Kailey Dickerson, shared the news with a heartwarming announcement and gender reveal earlier this year. The couple’s second son will arrive three years after firstborn son Remington, nearing his third birthday this month. Dickerson said the balance between family life and tour life is all about trying to “squeeze as much (quality time) as I can in.”

The ‘Big Wheels Back Roads Tour’ is like, it’s the tour I’ve been waiting on my entire career, you know? It’s the one where we start stepping into arenas, this is the one where we’re putting it all on the line,” Dickerson said of his next steps. “We’re stepping up the production, we’ve got the big LED screens, we’re really stepping into the ‘big boy’ venues. But I love that pressure, you know? I love the pressure. I love the competition. I wanna sell more tickets than everybody. It’s just fun. It’s just playful fun. Touring is what I’ve always loved, and ‘Big Wheels Back Roads Tour’ is really our first kinda step into the ‘big boy’ room. It’s time to prove ourselves. It’s time to show them RD is here, and (here to stay).”
