Weekend Adventures - Lizzie Borden House In Fall River

Over the weekend I knocked off #1 on my Fall Bucket List... do spooky things! That's a very broad #1 but I knew this year I'd finally have to tour the Lizzie Borden House; the site of a very notorious "unsolved" double murder. I air quote that, because I've always thought she did it. She was cut burning a dress with "paint" stains after the murders. Was annoyed with her father for not giving her property, AND to hack someone that many times with an ax ... well that's personal!

A few interesting things I learned while walking about Fall River and the house...

#1 the rhyme goes "Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks; when she saw what she had done; gave her father 41"... well in actuality it was more like 19 to the Stepmother and 11 to her father. Not even a full forty, but still quite savage.

#2 we walked by an old church/rectory that was eventually made into a restaurant the "Abbey Grill". No one has used this lovely looking building for about 25 years. The church seems to have had little paranormal activity, but the rectory that was eventually turned into the restaurant had so much activity that many were scared out.

#3 that pretty looking church was not only the church that the Bordens would frequent, but also the sight of Aerosmith's "Cryin" video! SO COOL!

If you've never toured the home and you're into spooky stuff I highly recommend. Did I get any weird vibes in the house... nah, but I def would never stay over or go in that basement!
