Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman tied the knot in 2006 after a whirlwind romance. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Kidman looked back on the moment Urban popped the question.

"I know you love New York, and this is a very special place for you," host Jimmy Fallon said to the Nine Perfect Strangers actress. "You got engaged here, I know that. When did Keith Urban first sweep you off your feet? When did you know?"

Though Kidman said Fallon wasn't "meant to know" any details of her engagement, she was happy to share the happy story with him. "He sat on the stoop of my New York apartment. I came out at 5 a.m. in the morning, and it was my birthday, and he had flowers," she recalled. "And that was it. I was a goner. I'm like, ''Yes I'll marry you!'' '

Urban and Kidman first met at the G’Day USA Gala in Los Angeles back in 2005. While Kidman once admitted to Ellen Degeneres that she "had such a crush" on her now-husband from the moment they met, it took a while before they started dating. The Big Little Lies actress said it took Urban four months to ask her out.

“Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say,'” Urban confirmed to Interview in 2018. “I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life.”

“I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me," he said. "But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless.”

Just one year later, the pair tied the knot in June 2006 in their home country of Australia.
