I wouldn't exactly call myself a history buff - but I do enjoy learning about local history. Off the coast of Wellfleet there is a known shipwreck - the Whydah which went down in 1717.
Well scientist have been able to locate 6 skeletal remains of pirates from the ship. They're hoping to identify living descendants in New England.
They know the ship was Captained by Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy and have obtained DNA from a relative in England. With that they hope they can figure out which skeleton belongs to him.
