Boston Police Investigate Alleged Kidnapping By Driver

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston police are investigating after a woman reported being held against her will early Sunday morning by a man she believed to be her rideshare driver.

The woman in her 20's told police she was at Paddy O's bar on Union Street near Faneuil Hall with friends on Saturday night. She ordered a Lyft to go to her home in Allston at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, but her phone died before the car arrived.

The woman told investigators that a group of men waived her over and pointed to a silver or tan car, telling her it was her driver, so she got in the back seat.

The driver then allegedly drove about 30 minutes north of the city, where he stopped for gas. There, the woman said another man approached the car and told her to stay inside.

She said she managed to kick the door open and run away, flagging down another car which drove her back to Allston, where her boyfriend called police.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 ft, with a medium build. Boston Police Sergeant John Boyle confirms the investigation is active and ongoing.
