Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery releases his first digital-only EP, The Soundcheck Sessions, today. The project features the just released track âFive More Minutes (Acoustic)â as well as previously released tracks âIn Between (Acoustic)â and âThis is It (Acoustic).â It also includes the bonus track âStill (Acoustic) due to strong fan demand.â The Soundcheck Sessions was produced by Nathan Thomas, McCreeryâs longtime bass player.
âItâs no secret that âFive More Minutesâ is my favorite song Iâve ever written,â said McCreery. âI announced that on Twitter that very day and Iâve stated it frequently. That song was inspired by my grandfather and we wrote it two weeks after he passed away. It was fitting that it became my first No.1 hit. I knew if I was doing a collection of acoustic performances that âFive More Minutesâ had to be included.â
Written by McCreery, Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell and produced by Rogers, the poignant âFive More Minutesâ was the North Carolina nativeâs first No. 1 hit. We are excited to bring you the exclusive premiere of the acoustic video for "Five More Minutes," which was directed by Jeff Ray, who also directed the original âFive More Minutesâ music video.
âFive More Minutes (Acoustic)â was filmed and recorded on the stage of the Cascade Theatre in Redding, Calif. on Sept. 26 along with âThis is It (Acoustic)â and âIn Between (Acoustic),â during the afternoon before the singer and his band performed at the venue. McCreery is accompanied by his guitarists/harmony vocalists Jeffrey Harper and Dylan Rosson on these three acoustic tracks.
âStill (Acoustic)â was recorded in McCreeryâs Raleigh home, with Rosson performing guitar on the track. The North Carolina native recorded the acoustic version of âStillâ for fans after numerous requests for the song following the release of âIn Between (Acoustic)â in November 2019. The song was written by McCreery and Aaron Eshuis.
âI usually play âStillâ alone with my guitar during my live show,â said McCreery. âIt always goes over well and is one of my favorite songs to do live. I was thrilled to receive so many requests for an acoustic version and Iâm glad weâre able to give the fans what they want.â
Earlier this week, McCreery performed in Cancun at Luke Bryanâs Crash My Playa on Jan. 22-23. Heâll be in concert at the Palace Theater in Louisville, Kentucky on Jan. 30 and the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis, Indiana on Jan. 31. Recently it was announced that McCreery will join Chris Young on the Town Ainât Big Enough World Tour 2020 this spring and summer beginning in mid-May. In addition, his 2016 book Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream was just re-released in paperback earlier this month.
