Person Struck By MBTA Commuter Train In Concord

CONCORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A pedestrian was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train in Concord Thursday,

The incident happened at the Concord station on Thoreau Street Thursday, causing delays on the Fitchburg Line.

According to MBTA Transit Police, a woman in her 70s was struck by an inbound Fitchburg Line train around 12:50 p.m.

She sustained serious injuries and was brought to a Boston hospital by medical helicopter for emergency treatment.

There were about 25 passengers on the train at the time of the crash. None of them were injured.

Sudbury Road and Thoreau Street were closed near the station, and officials urged the public to avoid the area.

The MBTA said two trains were stopped due to this incident. Fitchburg Line 416 was stopped at Concord station, and Fitchburg Line 411 was stopped at Lincoln station.

Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
