Toddler Hit By Boston Police Cruiser Expected To Recover

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A one year old girl is expected to recover after being hit by a Boston Police Cruiser in Roxbury Monday.

The horrifying moment played out on video on Shawmut Avenue after the toddler was hit by the cruiser.

Surveillance video obtained by WBZ-TV from a nearby liquor store shows the cruiser was parked behind an SUV.

When the officer pulled away, the child appears to wander off the sidewalk in front of the cruiser.

She was hit and then dragged underneath the cruiser only to reappear moments later from the rear

A man who saw the crash from across the street immediately runs to help as the child’s mother, who was on the sidewalk at the time, runs after the cruiser.

According to the child mother, the little girl is being treated for a broken collarbone but expected to be okay.

“She’s doing okay, she’s doing alright …just asking for a speedy recovery that’s it,” the girl’s mother said to WBZ-TV.

The officer remained on the scene. Reconstruction crews are investigating.
