Missing Mass. Dog Found In Maine After 8 Months Reunited With Owner

BETHEL, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — A dog that went missing in Ashby, Massachusetts last June has been found—185 miles away in Bethel, Maine!

Keizer, a German shepherd-malamute mix, was reunited with his owner last week.

"We don’t know how Keizer ended up in Maine, did he get here himself?" Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills, the shelter that was housing Keizer, wrote on Facebook. "Was he taken? Was he picked up and then escaped again? We may never know, but we do know that his family never stopped looking, and today will be the happiest day for all of them."

Responsible Pet Care took the dog in after he was found by a Bethel woman. That woman had been feeding the timid Keizer for a few weeks, but he wouldn't let her get close enough to catch him for a few weeks.

The shelter posted his photo on Facebook, and took to calling him "Grizz." Eventually they were contacted by his owner.

"After speaking with the owner he was able to identify some things on Keizer that no one else would know!!! We knew this was his dog!!!" the shelter wrote.

When they called the pup by his real name, they said, he turned into a "completely different dog."
