Red Sox Fan Electrocuted, Dies On NY Train

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- A Red Sox fan from New Hampshire has been killed after an incident on a train in New York.

Michael Vigeant of Hudson, New Hampshire and his brother were returning home from Yankee Stadium on a Metro North train headed to New Haven, Connecticut. The pair had gotten on the train at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night--and about a half hour later, apparently tried to climb onto the train.

The New York Post said the men tried to climb from inside the train car onto the roof--and though train personnel were able to get one brother down safely, Michael touched a wire carrying some 16,000 volts and was electrocuted.

The train was stopped, and according to the Post, power went down, along with air conditioners and toilets. Though the MTA, which runs the rail, says passengers were delayed less than an hour, some passengers said it was closer to two hours. They also said tensions on the train were high, including some beefs between Red Sox and Yankees fans.
